The
oldest text in any of the Baltic languages. It was handwritten into a
book by a student in around 1369 in Prussian. Kayle rekyse thoneaw
labonache thewelyse Eg koyte poyte nykoyte penega doyte. It can be
translated as: "Hello, sir, you are no longer a good uncle, as you want
to drink [but] don't want to give any money". The youth also has a flag
in his hand with the following words in German: "Jesus, I am sufferring". Taken from the book Senosios Lietuvos istorija, Alfredas Bumblauskas, 2007.
