Two of the Professor's cousins have already been genetically tested. As part of #TolkienAncestry, Galadhorn also plans to test the descendants of J. R. R. Tolkien (there is already consent from his great-grandson) and the German branch of the Tolkiehn family.
So far, the conclusion from the research is as follows: the genealogy dating back to Prussia is supported by genetics - the Tolkiens most likely belong to the same genetic line as the former Prussians, Yotvingians, and German and Polish families descended from them (and the Baltic Vikings, including the well-known Viking from the excavations in Bodzia,VK156!)
Perhaps we can also encourage Tolkien fans to do their own genetic research in this way?

Galadhorn planuje przeprowadzić też testy potomków J. R. R. Tolkiena
(jest już zgoda jego prawnuka) oraz niemieckiej gałęzi Tolkiehnów.
Wniosek
z badań jest jak na razie następujący: genealogię sięgającą Prus
wspiera genetyka - Tolkienowie najprawdopodobniej należą do tej samej
linii genetycznej co dawni Prusowie, Jaćwięgowie oraz niemieckie i
polskie rody od nich się wywodzące (oraz bałtyccy wikingowie, w tym
znany wiking z wykopalisk w Bodzi, VK156)
Być może uda nam się też w ten sposób zachęcić fanów Tolkiena do badań genetycznych?
